I would like the Neoconazis to answer this question?
Posted on May 5th, 2009 13 commentsBrian C asked:
Isn’t this socialism?WALLACE: But, Senator, you voted for the $700-billion bailout that’s being used partially to nationalize American banks. Isn’t that socialism?
MCCAIN: That is reacting to a crisis that’s due to greed and excess in Washington. And what this administration is doing wrong, and what Paulson is doing wrong, is not going out and buying up home loan mortgages, home mortgages, and giving people new mortgages at the new value of their home so they can stay in their home. They’re bailing out the banks. They’re bailing out these institutions.
WALLACE: But you voted for that.
MCCAIN: Of course. It was a package that had to be enacted because the economy was about to go into the tank…. That’s the reason why we have governments, to help those who need help, who can’t help themselves, and when time of crisis to step in and do what’s necessary to preserve the lives and futures of innocent people. It wasn’t Main Street America that caused this. It was Washington and Wall Street.

No, it is poor business sense.
Socialism is taking money from one group of tax payers and giving it to another group of citizens who did nothing for it other than earn less money.
The escalating tax code is not socialism if the taxes are spent on the burden of government services.
The moment the tax dollars are used as a cash gift to people who did nothing to earn it, it is socialism.By the way, the “bailout” was not a gift, the US purchased mortgages at 60 cents on the dollar.
You may not like the idea that congress approved this (with Obama’s support) but it is not Socialism. -

Yes, it is socialism, Obama and McCain should withdraw their names and retire in shame for giving away that money, and Franklin Raines should be giving his 90 Million back that he stole while at fannie mae, and he should go to jail…
They came over our house, and burned the tanksgiving turkey, we paid them for it and gave them a deposit to come back and cook Christmas dinner.
You lefties and righties are to busy outsmarting yourselves and pretending to be smarter than each other to notice that you are being ruled by a left right binary political sytem,
There is no change

Politicians are really all the same. They try to give the people what they want. It’s all hypocrisy. McCain is as guilty as any of them.
I’m not voting for McCain. We need Obama now!
Obama 2008!

Yes you are correct it is socialism. However it should be pointed out that the bailout was to fix the Clinton-Pelosi initiative that everyone should qualify to own a home! Thus the deregulation and of course fly by night mortgage brokers and folks taking on way more debt then their paycheck can handle. I am really upset about this happening it took me a lot of hard work to get into my first home years ago and now because of these “criminals” that we as Americans put into office my taxes are once again going through the roof to pay for yet another failed democratic initiative.

No it is not socialism and Wallace knows that. Look up socialism for yourself. McCain wants to use part of that $700 billion to help people keep their homes and you are criticizing him?
